Wall Street Goes On-Chain: DTCC Runs First Live Tokenized Stock and Treasury Trades With JPMorgan, BlackRock and Goldman

The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation — the back-office giant that settles virtually every stock trade in America — has begun its first live production trades of tokenized securities, with JPMorgan, BlackRock and Goldman Sachs among the participants, according to a Wall Street Journal report picked up across the crypto press on Wednesday.

What Happened

The trades run through DTCC's new DTC Tokenization Service on its ComposerX platform, covering tokenized Russell 1000 stocks, major ETFs and US Treasuries. Among the first assets going on-chain: JPMorgan is tokenizing part of its Invesco QQQ Trust holdings held at DTC, while Microsoft shares, Circle shares and SPY are also being tokenized in the initial round.

This is a pilot phase ahead of a full commercial launch slated for October 2026, and more than 50 firms have reportedly signed on to participate. The regulatory groundwork was laid in December 2025, when the SEC issued a no-action letter establishing a three-year pathway for tokenized securities held at DTC.

Why It Matters

Tokenization pilots are nothing new — but this one runs through the actual plumbing of US capital markets. Because trades route through DTCC's existing regulated infrastructure, the tokenized versions inherit the same legal protections and clearing guarantees as traditional shares. That answers the biggest institutional objection to tokenized stocks: that a token isn't really the asset. Here, it is.

It's also a statement about where the giants think markets are heading. BlackRock has been vocal about tokenizing everything from money market funds to ETFs, and JPMorgan has run its own blockchain settlement rails for years. Now they're doing it inside the system that processes quadrillions of dollars in securities transactions.

What's Next

The full DTC Tokenization Service launch is targeted for October, and DTCC has already outlined a multi-chain strategy that includes connecting to public blockchains. If the pilot holds up, tokenized versions of the most liquid securities on earth — trading around the clock, settling in minutes — stop being a whitepaper dream and start being market structure.
